AUSTIN SSC WIFFLEBALL RULES

ROSTER:
There are no maximum number of players allowed on your roster. Players will not be allowed to participate without signing the Austin SSC roster/waiver form. Players may be added after the registration deadline only if the league has their t-shirt in inventory. New shirts cannot be ordered. Otherwise, the only way to add a new player to your roster after the registration deadline is by first dropping another player. Teams have up until the third week of the season to do so. After that, rosters are frozen. The additional player must obtain the t-shirt from the dropped player in order to play. If a team wishes to add a player only after the registration deadline, this can only be done if the league has the t-shirts in stock.

WAIVERS:
In order to participate in the league, each participant must sign the team waiver. Waivers will be e-mailed to all team captains, which need to be printed out, and turned in no later then the first night of play. Players not present the first week of play will still be required to sign a waiver with our staff before participating. An Austin SSC staff member will keep your team waiver at the field, or a new one can be printed out. Players who sign up as individuals, sign the waiver online when they register.

PLAYER RESTRICTIONS:
All Austin SSC participants must be at least 21 years old before the season starts.

Players that have participated in Division 1 sports must be 2 years removed from Division 1 participation if they wish to play in a similar Austin SSC sport.

Austin SSC will have the right to request ID from any player. Any player in the super social league who is determined a social player by the Austin SSC will have their league fee credited towards a future season. If more than one player fits in the category, the Austin SSC has the option to move the team to the social division.

Players may only play for one team and be on one roster, regardless of if multiple divisions are offered. One can play, for example, softball on Tuesday's & softball on Thursday's, but not for two teams in the same day or night. Any player that break this rule will cause both of their teams to forfeit games played on that day.

SPORTSMANSHIP:
We are all adults, and the Austin SSC expects all participants to act like it. Unsportsmanlike behavior may result in that player or team being suspended from participating in all Austin SSC sports. Being ejected from a game carriers a minimum one game suspension.

GAME UNIFORMS:
Austin SSC t-shirts are your team's uniforms. All players must wear their current Austin SSC uniform (past season's uniforms are not permitted) to participate and any player not wearing his/her uniform will be will be sidelined for that game. If this sidelined player will cause the team to forfeit, he/she will be allowed to play in the game provided he/she is on the original roster. Missing or swapped uniform players' names will be taken and if they are not on your roster, a loss will be assessed for that game.

UNIFORM ALTERATIONS:
Names on uniforms, numbers, cut-off sleeves, corporate logos, etc, are permitted, as long as they do not cover any logos originally printed on the shirts.

START OF THE GAME
Before the start of the game, both captains will meet at home plate to discuss the ground rules with the umpire. At this time, home team will be determined by playing rock, paper, scissors between the captains; best 2 out of 3 wins.

GAME TIME
All games will go 7 innings, time permitting.

FORFEITS:
If one does not have the minimum # of players (5 - 3 men/2 women or vice versa) to start the game, then the other team will become the home team and take the field. If the original home team does not have the minimum # of players at the bottom of the inning, then a forfeit fine will be assessed.

FORFEITS FINES:
If a team does not have the minimum number of players by game time, a $50 forfeit fine will be assessed. $50 will go towards your opponents bar tab the following week. Teams that receive a forfeit fine must use it the following week or lose it. (No, carry over). If a team e-mails the Austin SSC by 4pm of the preceding day, no fine will be assessed. This will allow the opposing coach to inform his team of the impending forfeit. All fines must be paid before your next scheduled game. Teams not paying the above fines the following week will have 2 points taken off their win total. After the 2nd week the fine doubles, 3rd week the team can be removed from the league.

WIFFLEBALL EQUIPMENT:
The Austin SSC will supply all field equipment including bat and balls. No gloves are needed for wiffleball.

PLAYOFFS:
Play-offs will immediately start after the regular season ends. The # of teams in each division to make the play-off will be determined by the Austin SSC.

PLAYOFF TIE BREAKER:
If the time limit has expired and the game is tied, a tiebreaker inning(s) will occur. All players will clear the field and the home team will take the field w/ the visiting team at bat. The batting order will continue from the previous inning. A runner, (player to make the last out in the previous inning) will be placed on second base. The batter will now have 2 strikes on them (one foul to give). After 3 outs, the home team will start their inning with the same format. The tiebreaker will continue until a complete inning has resulted in one team scoring more runs than the other. Home team will always have the last opportunity to win the game.

AUSTIN SSC SPORTSMANSHIP:
Any Austin SSC member that does not conduct themselves (on or off the field) in a sportsmanlike manner can/will be removed from the game and potentially the league. If a staff member believes a player should be removed, a meeting between myself, the coaches involved & staff member will occur to discuss removal.

BEER ON FIELD:
No alcohol is allowed in the gym.

POINTS AWARDED:
Win – 2 points...Tie – 1 point....Loss – 0 points. Regular season games will not go into extra innings

DEAD BALL (FIELDING):
The pitcher's mound will be considered "dead ball territory". The umpire will automatically call "time" when the ball reaches the pitchers area.

RUNNERS:
Runners must stay within the base line and fielders must stay out of the base line. Fielders trying to make an out on the base may have their foot on base, but must lean out of the baseline to avoid contact with the runner. Runners hindered by any fielder within the base line shall be safe at the base to which they were running. Neither leading off base, nor stealing a base is allowed. A runner off of his/her base when the ball is hit will be called out. You may overrun first base, however you must touch the wall after you pass the base so the umpire and fielders know you did not intend to go to second base, since space in the gym is too limited to turn right.

GAME RULES

1. Maximum # of 7 players (at least 3 women) on the field at one time. Women must make up 2 infield/outfield players. No maximum # of players on your roster. Minimum number of players in the field/your starting line up is 5 (3 men/2 women or vice versa). There is no maximum # of women allowed on the field/in your line-up. No more than 4 men are allowed on the field at on time. If a player arrives late, they will be inserted into the bottom of the order. You are allowed to place that player in the field, if your team is not batting.

2. Everyone on your team may bat, but you will need a maximum 2 men to 1 woman-batting ratio. If a team has less women to accommodate this, than they will bat twice in the order to obtain the 2 to 1 ratio. (3 women in the starting line up - 1 will bat twice/ 2 women in the starting line up-2 will bat twice).

3. Starting players may move freely from one field position to another, but the batting order must stay the same.

4. Each batter will start with a one strike count on them. THERE ARE NO WALKS. The batter is out after a third strike, including two foul balls hit after two strikes. NOTE: If a fly ball is caught in playable foul territory after the third strike, the ball remains live.

5. A ball thrown by the pitcher will be called a strike if the batter fails to swing at multiple pitches thrown over the plate. Ball thrown by the pitcher must be slow pitch overhand when a man is at bat and slow pitch underhand when a woman is at bat.

6. No bunting.

7. 9 runs maximum scoring allowed per inning. After ninth run crosses the plate, play will stop regardless of the number of outs.

8. Balls hit off of the basketball hoop are considered a fair ball and can be played by the defense. Balls hit off the ceiling are considered fair based upon the first place the ball touches the ground (not where it is played by the fielder). A ball hit off the wall is always playable, but is only 'fair' if the initial hit is in fair territory. If it is caught in the air off the wall, the batter is out.

9. A ball over the second line (top of the door height) in center field will be an automatic home run. If a ball hits the side wall first, then over the same line in center field, it is still a home run. Once it hits this line, it does not matter if the ball is caught.

10. Injured players may receive a pinch runner once they reach first base. If the injury occurs after the runner reaches a bag safely, the pinch runner can be used. The last player out of the preceding inning will become the pinch runner. No leading off or stealing. Runners can leave base once the ball is hit.

11. NO SLIDING IS ALLOWED. (Sliding will result in an automatic out)

12. Runners must give themselves up and avoid contact at all cost. (Contact will result in that player ejected from that game and suspended for the next game).

13. Outs are recorded the same way they would be in a softball game. The ball must be thrown to the fielder on the base, not at the runner.
