We Were Good In High School

School Yard Flashback Night (Wednesdays)

After a great opening week to the Wednesday soccer season (and an interruption by Mother Nature the following week), action resumed with style in week #2.

Week #2 had a little bit of everything. We certainly had our fair share of close calls, as well as games of goals galore which is exactly why everyone needs to continue to bring the excitement to Northeast Metro. The Sexy Ninjas (1-1) got their beauty back this week as they rolled 6-0 past the Perfect Strangers (1-1) who looked more like acquaintances. However, the Perfect Strangers achieved perfection on the pitch in their second game of a double-header as they defeated the Fainting Goats (0-2) by a tally of 3-0.

Also, making their mark on the Wednesday division standings was The YEN and the Bang (2-0) as they longed for a banging victory over the Balls Out (1-1) bunch. In the end, the balls flew out of play one too many times giving the Yen and the Bang the 2-1 victory. Speaking of balls flying, the Flying Meatballs (1-1) soared their way to a 7-0 win over the Fainting Goats. Surely the goats will attempt to remain a bit more conscious during their match next week.

Strong championship contender Just Tha Tip (2-0) was able to use a relentless offensive attack to tip toe past the Jackson 8 crew (0-1-1) by a final of 21-1. Don’t be fooled by the Jackson 8’s score…their effort was as golden as their brother’s hit records.

Amidst all of those superb soccer skills was the highlight of the evening between We Were Good in High School (1-1-0) and the Fishsticks (0-2). Early on, the greasy grit of the Fishsticks had the High School crew scrambling like it was their first fire drill. Thus, the sticks were able to knock home the first goal early in the second half and word is their secret is to put a little tartar on their cleats. However, We Were Good in High School did a little homework and realized they could have success through the middle of the field and with their fantastic females. The ladies made sure to be in the right place at the right time to and dominated the evening’s game. One certain female had a flashback to her old playing days as she dribbled past a few defenders and smashed home what turned out to be the game winner. We Were Good in High School passed the Fishsticks’ test by a final of 2-1.

We Were Good in High School looks to stay undefeated as the face the aerial attack of the Flying Meatballs at 7:30 on field 5. Week #3 looks to be another exciting night of Wednesday soccer action don’t miss it for anything!

P.S. Just a reminder to grab your teammates and swing by Third Base for $2 Miller Lite / MGD64 bottles, $3 Bacardi drinks after all soccer games.
