The Rounders

Rounding The Corner

Week #3 of the last summer softball season felt like it was fall with the winds blowing and temperatures relatively low for an Austin evening. The weather only meant teams were showing off their skills whether at the dish or in the field. Everyone knows the half way point of the season can be a pivotal week in the standings scheme of things. For some it is another week to enjoy their beverages and chatter with some friends.

There was one team in the social division who understood that at this point in the season they need to round the corner and bring it on home. The Rounders (2-2) were a game under an even record coming into the week with a game against the somewhat wicked Evil Empire (0-4). On paper this game was a rather lop-sided match-up, but that is why they play the game as it turned out to be a slugfest between these social foes. In the early going, the Rounders were running around the diamond constantly until the empire went all evil on them in a late rally. The Rounders were able to shut it down and seal up a significant victory as they sit with an even record going into the second half of the season. One player was overheard saying “We rounded that losing record and we ain’t looking back”. So watch out folks the Rounders are looking to run through opponents!

Week #4 should be an excellent one for the usual Thursday night sell-out crowd as basement battle ensues between We Stay Loaded (0-3) and Pitch, Pleeeeese…(0-3) at 7 pm on field #4 so don’t miss this one.
