![]() Bump, Set, Drink Night of Underdogs! Lightning was flashing in the distance. Thunder was rumbling in the sky. There was a slight drizzle. Not ideal conditions for some sand volleyball matches. Teams were not to be distracted or intimidated by Mother Nature, however, as not even the threat of a thunderstorm was going to ruin Stadium volleyball last Monday. On Court 2, Bump Up the Volume and Sand Storm hit the sand for the second match of the night. We were a little worried if it rained that Sand Storm would have to kick up mud instead of sand when they did their little dance, but fortunately the rain held off for us. Sand Storm came out on fire taking advantage of Bump Up the Volume playing with only 5 players. They used their momentum from the come back last week to take game 1 relatively easily. Since Bump Up the Volume was playing with a man down, we figured game 2 would repeat the same pattern. However, some impressive defense allowed them to push it to a decisive game 3. Bump Up the Volume came out strong in the final game, but very reminiscent of last week, Sand Storm prevailed in the end. Never count them out, because if a team relaxes for a second, Sand Storm will definitely take advantage of it. On Court 3, Team Monday Night Lights took on Bump, Set, Drink in the final Super Social game of the night. As the team to watch out for at the beginning of the season, we expected Team Monday Night Lights to win in straight sets. We were definitely proved wrong as Bump, Set, Drink played outstanding. Game 1 was close, but Bump, Set, Drink ended up on top. The competitiveness of Team Monday Night Lights was very apparent as they came roaring back in game 2. However, in game 3 Team Monday Night Lights resorted to a very conservative form of volleyball, just trying to get everything back over. Bump, Set, Drink took advantage of the tentativeness and with some excellent defense took game 3. We think if Team Monday Night Lights resorts back to their aggressive play that they used in week one of passing, setting, and hitting, they will still be one of the favorites when playoffs come around. Join us at The Stadium next Monday as undefeated Sand Storm and Kinky Sets will clash in the second game of the night. As we get closer to playoffs, victories are more important then ever!
